BridgeArt.net announces closer integration between its database of AEC software and structural wiki.
AEC software database by BridgeArt.net is online catalog of programs for the AEC industry, listing many types of software such as CADD software, structural analysis and design software, finite element analysis software, architectural visualization software, quantity takeoff and cost estimate software, project scheduling software, etc. It provides basic information about the software, including relevant keywords, supported data formats and design codes. Visitors can rank and add comments about the software. The goal is to create comprehensive directory of AEC software that will enable designers, researches, students, and others to easily locate the right tool for their needs as well as to provide better insight into interoperability that exists among various commercial and free software that is available today.
Typical entry for a program in the AEC software database is shown below:

Structural wiki is a wiki targeted at the AEC community. A recent survey by BridgeArt.net revealed that over 80% of respondents were interested in wiki devoted solely to the AEC community. Structural wiki was launched to address this interest. It currently contains over 2500 entries, related mainly to the bridge design and construction.
Bi-directional integration of software database and structural wiki enables to enhance the basic program entry in AEC software database by a corresponding entry in the structural wiki. While the entry in the software database in quite structured and follows rigid format, corresponding entry in the structural wiki is more flexible and easily enables multiple contributors (including software developer) to collaborate:

Link to software database is created either by using "Software Template" within a wiki entry or by assigning the entry into the "Software Category" (BridgeArt.net editor will then create the link via the "Software Template"). Link to wiki entry from software database entry will be provided by BridgeArt.net editor.
BridgeArt.net hopes that our visitors will find this new future useful and would be glad to hear any comments or suggestions!
