AASHTO LRFD 4th Edition and Noncomposite Section

Questions Received via Email:

Do you intend to update the Plate I-Girder Section Analysis spreadsheet for the fouth edition of the AASHTO LRFD code?

To run a noncomposite simple span plate girder, do you simply input the deck and haunch values as zero and ignore the output for composite sections?

Re: AASHTO LRFD 4th Edition and Noncomposite Section

We do not intend to update the spreadsheet for the 4th Edition of the AASHTO in the near future. However, based on the input from our users, we decided to offer advanced license of the spreadsheets. When advanced license is purchased, the entire spreadsheet (VBA code, workbook, tab) is fully unprotected. We believe that this will enable the users to fully customize the spreadsheet based on their specific needs. We only ask you not to share this unprotected version of the spreadsheet and purchase the required number of licenses. The cost for advanced license is twice the cost for standard license. Please refer to updated information on the purchase spreadsheet page for additional details.

Regarding the noncomposite section, the spreadsheet has capabilities to solve this problem, however some adjustments are needed. For example the flexural resistance for discretely braced flanges in tension (cell B323 of Detailed tab in version 0.121) should be considered and implemented.
